We must learn to love ourselves for who we are. We were born the way we are and should never let anyone tell us that that is wrong.
I don't like how the media portrays how people should look. It doesn't matter if you're super skinny or super large, you're still beautiful. The only thing that makes a person ugly is what is on the inside. If you have an ugly personality, then your appearance is ugly.
A normal person has flaws, whether it be a muffin top, a little bit of cellulite, stretch marks, too long legs, a tummy, more than one chin; whatever it is, own it!
I have a little bit of a tummy, a bit of cellulite, and am shorty. 5'3" to be exact. And I own it! Sure, there are some days when I have a bit of a self-esteem problem, but who doesn't? It's not healthy to be happy with yourself every single day!
I'm not saying that it's wrong to want to be flawless, sure you can want to be. But don't hurt yourself in order to try to reach perfection. Don't starve yourself, make yourself throw up, and/or workout until your body gives. Doing that hurts you, and nobody should hurt themselves in order to look like celebrities you see in the media. Celebrities don't even look like that! They are photo-shopped to the moon and back! Every model you see in magazines has been put together with other people's body parts, they have been given "perfect" eyes, "perfect" lips, "perfect" cheekbones, "perfect" breasts, "perfect" necks, "perfect" legs, "perfect" arms, "perfect" hands, and "perfect" butts. Everything has been cut and pasted onto the photographed model to make them into the "ideal" woman.
Men get the same treatment. They are forced to think that men should have a built body, and are portrayed as this aggressive bully who should have women pamper their every needs. Men are just as diverse as women; some are aggressive, some are quite feminine, or very masculine, some are passive, assertive, sensitive, rude, and everything in between.
It is our time to bring the true definition of beauty! Beauty radiates from the inside out, not the other way around. Own your body and work it!
